An New England Tradition

While attempting to comment on 3 blogs this morning and not being given access, I remembered what my Mother [RIP 10/3/02] did either on Thanksgiving Day and/or Christmas Eve or Christmas Day and/or New Years Eve or New Years Day, the burning of a Bayberry Candle [burns for 8 hrs until nothing is left]!! You see this tradition will bring good luck to the individual and/or the family group the following year!! My Mother was from Mystic, Connecticut!

In 2009 and in 2010 I did not burn a candle even though I had one remaining in the box and the YEARS SUCKED!
So therefore in need of some good luck, I shall wait until New Years Eve December 31, 2011 to burn the Bayberry Candle [I need to buy a pack of matches and/or that lighting gismo; the box of matches that I have dont light up]!!

What a wonderful aroma permeates the house; I always had burned the candle in the Kitchen watching it intently but this year I shall place the candle holder on my coffee table in the living room where I can sit comfy and either watch television or curl up with a good book, perhaps this year I will be able to finish reading The Original Argument [the federalists papers] by Glenn Beck!!

I enjoy a nice scented candle any time. It doesn't have to be a special occasion. I'm partial to Jasmine, when I can find it.

Enjoy the Bayberry candle, whenever you decide to light it up!
